Taylor Swift Kickstarts Fall ’24’s Statement Boot Trend at Chiefs Game: Could Her Red Thigh-Highs Mean ‘Reputation’ Is Coming?

When Taylor Swift arrived at the Kansas City Chiefs game in dramatic fashion on Thursday evening, some eagle-eyed “Swifties” had an immediate thought when they saw her Giuseppe Zanotti red thigh-high leather boots.

The statement-making footwear clearly resembles the style that the superstar wore for the “Look What You Made Me Do” video back in 2017. Of course, the song is the lead single from “Reputation,” and fans have been abuzz about when Ms. Swift might release “Taylor’s Version” of the album.

Swift paired the boots — Zanotti’s Frannie style in burgundy — with an all-denim ensemble featuring a corset top.

Outside of the “Reputation” buzz, It’s possible that the songstress wanted to use her first appearance since returning from the European leg of her “Eras” tour to send a message (via her bold outfit choice) about the fake public relations “breakup” contract that was making the rounds this week.

But it’s also fitting that Swift took advantage of the moment to kickstart one of fall 24’s biggest boot trends.

Gucci fall 2024 boots on the runway at Milan Fashion Week

As seen on the Paris and Milan runways in February, over-the-knee and thigh-high boots are one of the biggest shoe stories of the season, whether in flat versions or high-heeled ones.

Gucci, Versace, Bally, Fendi and Diesel were among the winners in this arena, and the sometimes hard-to-wear style made a comeback as hem lines crept higher and higher.

Now as fall gets underway, celebrities, including Anne Hathaway, have already started to embrace the trend.

And with Swift no signing on, we’re about to see a whole new era for statement boots.
