With her hair pulled back in a sleek bun and her companion holding giant green Bottega Veneta shopping bags, Lipa looked perfectly comfortable in a distressed denim miniskirt, black button-up, slightly oversized moto jacket, and a particularly autumnal calf-length quilted leather boot.
Of course, Dua Lipa isn’t the only celebrity rocking some unexpected summer footwear in London. Just the other day, Priyanka Chopra rolled up to the Wimbledon women’s final match wearing a pair of thigh-high sock boots featuring a controversial open toe—you know, for ventilation.
You know what lacks ventilation? Leather. Nearly everything about Dua Lipa’s look will have you sweating and chafing if you aren’t heading straight from one air-conditioned boutique to another, then into an equally cool vehicle (likely prestocked with water bottles nestled in the cupholders). Just ask Emily Ratajkowski, who felt the heat in Paris while dressed in head-to-toe leather back in June.
At the time, Ratajkowski hit up the Loewe menswear fashion show in her own leather trench coat and calf-length boots combo, but even going naked underneath her outerwear didn’t save her from the natural effects of the sun. “I’m sweating so much,” she admitted in a TikTok video posted by i-D.
