More on the Prizes
Prize package:
- Alp Mate Winter Boots (men’s or women’s): Salewa designed these boots for winter in the Dolomites. The Alp Winter Mid is made with a suede leather upper that uses Salewa’s 3F System, with Kevlar cables aimed at stability and support. Inside, you’ll find a wool lining for warmth as well as a heel stabilizer and reinforced rand for long days on the trail. Lace them up with the boot’s climbing lacing system and adaptive eyelets for a secure and precise fit, according to the brand. The Alp Mate Winter Mid outsole has a lug pattern that the brand says provides stability, grip, and traction on rock, mud, and snow and ice.
- Puez Dolomitic 2 Durastretch Pants (men’s or women’s): According to the brand, these pants were designed to provide versatile weather protection for alpine trekking. Salewa says the pants are made from Bluesign-approved fabrics and have a PFC-free DWR finish. Crafted to withstand trekking conditions while providing stretch and comfort, Salewa uses a blend of nylon, polyester, and elastane for its Puez Dolomitic pants. They have a flatfront waistband with belt loops, ergonomic, pre-shaped knees, an adjustable hem system with cord locks for flexibility and comfort, and two zippered outer pockets. For extra storage, the men’s version has a rear zippered pocket, and the women’s has a side zippered pocket.
- Nuvolo Polarlite Jacket (men’s or women’s): Named after the II Nuvolo, a high peak in the Dolomites Pala Group, this fleece jacket was made for just that — changing mountain conditions. It’s constructed from Polarlite 260-weight fabric that the brand says creates large air pockets for thermal retention and dries quickly. The brand recommends wearing it as an outer or inner layer. The jacket has two zippered handwarmer pockets, elastic bindings on the cuffs and hem, and a gusseted sleeve design aimed at movability.
Founded in July 1935, Josef Liebart of Munich named the company Sa (saddler) Le (leather) Wa (wares). Headquartered in the Dolomites, the brand’s products are hyper-focused on adventuring through the mountains, whether it be trekking, mountaineering, speed hiking, or just plain alpine life.
Salewa says it’s committed to sustainability as well as care for its employees. Right in its Italian headquarters, you’ll find bike parking, electric charging, solar power, and one of the largest climbing gyms in Europe, according to the brand.
