The Shoe Bank will be open Saturday, Feb. 18, inside Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St. Eligible kids and teens can get a free pair of new sneakers or shoes, plus a free pair of new winter boots.
Shoe Bank volunteers have kept right on adding new boots to the shelves throughout the winter, so that even though it’s February, young clients will have different styles to choose from. Boots are available in most sizes. Any Shoe Bank client who has not yet chosen boots this winter is eligible to come in and get a pair that will take them through the rest of this cold season.
Children and teens (up to age 18 or if still a high school student) may pick out free new shoes, socks and books every six months at the Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank. They are eligible if their family has an active Compass app or summary sheet and lives in Clinton County or the Liberty-Curtin Elementary School area. Families who don’t have Compass may be referred by an agency.
The Shoe Bank is usually open the third Saturday of the month, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments are required.
Sign up for your time slot ahead of time, be ready to show your Compass App or summary sheet at every visit and wear a mask when you visit.
To book an appointment, call or text Diahann at 814-571-5324 (weekdays 7-9 p.m.). Leave a message and she will contact you when she builds the schedule. You may even contact her on Feb. 18, the day the Shoe Bank is open, just in case a time slot has become available.
If you are ill, please call to reschedule. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let Diahann know as soon as you can since she keeps a waiting list.
Volunteers are always welcome. Those who cannot help on Shoe Bank Saturdays are welcome to help with set-up every Thursday afternoon.
Anyone who knows a family who may benefit from this service is asked to pass the word along.
Funding is provided by the Clinton County Community Foundation, an M&T Bank grant, clubs and civic groups, churches and individual donors.
