Adidas can now count Olivia Wilde among its legions of celebrity fans — particularly for its revived soccer shoes.
On Wednesday, Wilde left the gym in Los Angeles after a workout, wearing a pair of the athletic brand’s hit Samba sneakers. Her round-toed style featured brown gum rubber soles and Adidas’ triple stripes in black, leaning into the shoe’s sporty ’80s origins.
However, in a vibrant twist, the style’s paneled uppers were cast in bright magenta and bubblegum-pink tones, bringing a pop of color to the “Don’t Worry Darling” director’s attire. Indeed, the pair leaned into “Barbiecore” — a 2020’s style movement where all-pink attire or pieces are worn to embrace female empowerment, as well as the optimistic, whimsical style of Barbie — and brought a burst of color to Wilde’s otherwise neutral gym outfit: a black sports bra and high-waisted leggings.
Wilde’s monochrome gym look embraced the athleisure trend of matching sets, where both fitness-focused pieces like sports bras, sweatshirts and leggings in the same color palette are paired together for a streamlined appearance. Similar pieces have been released across a wide range of brands, as seen in new collections from labels including Electric & Rose, Gymshark and Alo Yoga.
The “O.C.” actress completed her gym look with black sunglasses and small gold huggie earrings, bringing her workout set a versatile finish. A yellow canvas tote bag and color-blocked water bottle also elevated her outfit with tonal pops of color. The occasion marked Wilde’s latest outing in Adidas’ Samba sneakers, which she also owns in black, yellow and green colorways — often worn while off-duty or at the gym.
Where shoes are concerned, Wilde often goes glamorous on the red carpet. The “Booksmart” director regularly wears metallic and embellished heeled sandals and platforms for formal occasions, hailing from top brands including Gucci, Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo. Off-duty, the star is often more casual, slipping on Adidas sneakers, Steve Madden slippers and Lucchese boots over the years.
