Christmas Day walk-about or royal runway? That was our reaction upon seeing King Charles, Kate Middleton and the rest of the royal clan step out to greet well-wishers outside St. Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas morning in Sandringham. Still, out of all the styles we loved, there was one in particular that caught our eye: Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall’s over-the-knee Highland Stuart Weitzman boots ($950).
Her choice felt like a marked contrast to the royals’ love of statement knee-high boots as of late. The knee-high variety is of course a fall and winter staple, but Kate Middleton, Princess Beatrice, even Queen Camilla Parker-Bowles have all recently traded their heels for more functional, yet still fashionable boots.
But that’s where Zara’s choice kicked things up a notch. Although mostly hidden beneath her gorgeous Laura Green coat, her over-the-knee Stuart Weitzman suede boots with their 3.5-inch heel felt runway-ready and quite elegant, too. (Yes, they’re a bit of a splurge, but also lined with smooth satin with ties to keep the over-the-knee part comfortably in place.)
It’s also not the first time Zara has worn them—she chose the exact same pair for the Cheltemham Festival in 2019. (Proof of their comfort level? We’d say so.)
‘Tis the season for adding another pair of royally-approved boots to your wardrobe? Yes, please.
