The PUMA King is an icon in itself, but now the brand combine the King Ultimate with legendary players to have worn the boots to give us the King Ultimate ‘Pele’ and ‘Cruyff’ editions.
Any self-respecting football enthusiast will know the impact the PUMA King has had over the last half a century. The boot of choice for some of the greatest players of all-time, it has left an indelible mark on the game. Now, in its current iteration of King Ultimate, PUMA pay homage to two of those greats in Pele and Johann Cruyff with special presentations in the players’ respective national colours on a classic black base.
In case you’ve missed it over the last 12 months, the King Ultimate represents a revolutionary step for both brand and silo, boasting a K-Better upper in place of K-leather. It’s an innovative, environmentally conscious upper material that looks like leather, feels like leather and plays like leather. All that and it’s more environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Recycled from industrial waste, the K-Better material is a synthetic, non-animal base that boasts the same softness as K-leather, whilst being 30 percent thinner, twice as stretchy, providing a better fit for longer, and 10 times more durable.
And now it’s presented in two styles that nod to ‘The Beautiful Game’ of Pele and the ‘Total Football’ of Cruyff.
Both boots feature the respective players’ signatures on the lateral side, riding above that famous Formstripe branding, with their approaches to football below, while their silhouettes take up position on the medial sides. They’re presented in a traditional black base colour, with Pele’s featuring his beloved Brazil’s yellow accents, while Cruyff’s comes with the Netherlands’ famous orange.
