Regina King is no stranger to a red carpet and is often styled to perfection for just about any occasion. Over the weekend, the actress proved to be full of surprises when she wore a light gray Nanushka maxidress with a pair of cool Dr. Marten Chesney leather flared heel lace-up boots.
King sat down for an interview with Salamishah Tillet to talk about the movie “Shirley,” as part of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation conversation series, which took place at the Robin Williams Center on Oct. 5 in New York City. She wore a white Nanushka maxidress with black straps and a matching buckle detail that sat right on the left side of her chest.
The dress also featured a thigh-high slit that brought all the attention down to her footwear. To mix things up from her usual strappy high heeled sandals and elegant pumps, King opted for a more rugged look with the Dr. Martens Chesney lace up boots. The mid-calf, lace up boot features an 8-eye silhouette, a chunky flared heel and a grooved outsole, as well as the brand’s signature welt stitch.
The affordable boots retail for $200, and are currently available in sizes 5 to 11 on the company’s website.
It was all about the details for this look, and King added a pair of sheer black tights underneath her dress, and wrapped her curly hair in a black scarf. She kept her jewelry simple with a pair of silver hoop earrings, and decorated her fingers in dainty black and silver rings.
The intimate conversation centered around King’s movie “Shirley,” which hit Netflix earlier this year in March. The Oscar winner starred in it as Shirley Chisholm, who became the first-ever Black congresswoman in 1972, and launched a trailblazing campaign to become the president of the United States.
