WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert is getting a bit more wear out of her slick black pumps. While making an appearance on “Good Morning America,” Engelbert, who is the first commissioner of the WNBA, a position she has held since July 2019, slipped into a pair of shoes featuring logos from all of the team franchises in the league.
To film for the program, the commissioner put on a simple blue shift dress. She also carried a woven brown leather bucket bag. But the standout part of her look was the slick black pumps, sporting WNBA team logos.
Engelbert has worn the shoes before. She said that her daughter ordered them from someone on Instagram in 2021 and gave them to her for Christmas. She sported the shoes in May 2023 for the regular season tip-off. She’s worn them multiple other times, including on the day of the draft this year. In October 2024, she joked she would soon need to replace the shoes as by 2025, the league will expand.
The designer is currently unknown, but the shoes seem custom. They have a moderate heel height, and one toe features the logo for the Dallas Wings, while other franchises, such as the Las Vegas Aces, Indiana Fever, Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream, are featured elsewhere.
The pump features a rounded toe and a low-cut vamp. The black pump is a classic shoe style with pointed and rounded toes. Women often dress it up for fancy events with gowns, go more casual with jeans, or pair it with any number of other ensembles, including shift dresses and the like.
