It’s no secret that Ben Affleck likes sneakers, the more exclusive (and expensive) the better. Exhibit A: Earlier this month, Affleck was spotted in a highly-limited version of the legendary Parra x Nike SB Dunk Low, made specifically for the artist’s inner circle. Days before that, he showed up to a Lakers game in the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1, an equally-coveted silhouette from the late, great Virgil Abloh’s much-heralded collaboration with the Swoosh.
But what, exactly, does GQ‘s April cover star wear when he isn’t wearing queue-worthy sneakers? Shoes just as exclusive and expensive, obviously.
While taking his dog out for a stroll on Saturday, Affleck showed off a pair of rugged alpine boots from Brunello Cucinelli’s winter 2024 collection. In case their tony Italian provenance wasn’t hint enough, these wereno typical sludgy-weather hikers. Done up in sumptuous calfskin leather, they’re Alps-ready stompers for the A-list crowd, down to the bronze-tinted D-rings and cashmere-padded collar. Affleck likes the silhouette so much, in fact, that a mere 24 hours later he laced up a different pair—gray suede, silver D-rings—to anchor his trusty blue jeans and dusty-green suede jacket.
Brunello Cucinelli, the Solomeo-based unicorn brand founded by its eponymous philosopher-designer, is no stranger to celebrity cosigns. Brad Pitt and George Clooney are fans; ditto recent Oscar winner Adrien Brody. Affleck, though, seems to be taking his commitment to the label to another level entirely—and we can’t fault him. When you find a brand you like, it’s hard to resist buying absolutely everything from it. And when you’re Ben Affleck, repentant sneakerhead, ‘everything’ includes at least two (!) pairs of $2,000 boots.
