Former President Joe Biden and wife Jill Biden stepped out for date night in support of the Broadway opening of “Othello,” starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal. The former first lady looked as vibrant as ever, putting on a custom Ralph Lauren dress and pointed slingback pumps from Gucci.
The former president was all smiles as they arrived at the event at The Barrymore Theatre on March 23 in New York City. He looked sharper than ever, wearing a tuxedo paired with Cole Haan’s Zerøgrand Wingtip Oxford shoes in black.

His wife was vibrant in a Ralph Lauren Collection custom dress, which she previously wore to the 2024 Democratic National Convention in August. The knee-length shift dress was made of a shimmering fabric in a powder blue and featured elegant long sleeves and round neckline.
At the convention, she paired the dress with equally sparkly shoes, opting for the Jimmy Choo Romy 85 Glitter Pumps, valued at around $825. For the “Othello” opening, she put on a sexier, trendier and edgier shoe—the Gucci Signoria pump.

Named after the central piazza of Florence, the pump is said to recall the classic elegance of the House’s founding city. The shoe is comprised of a shiny metallic leather in silver, a pointed toe and an eye-catching Gucci chain that’s stitched by hand. The slingback style is on trend lately and has been a go-to for celebrities in the past few years.
The Signoria features an elastic slingback closure for easier use and it is all elevated upon a 4.1″ inch heel. The shoe is currently available on the Gucci website for $1,295 in a variety of colors and styles.

As first lady, Biden often opted for more toned down pumps from Jimmy Choo or Manolo Blahnik. Ocassionally, she would put on more eye-grabbing shoes like Christian Dior slingbacks, shoes from Emmy London, Sam Edelman, Ferragamo and more.
The Broadway outing marks one of the former first couple’s first outings since they left the White House in January. Also in attendance at the premiere were Jennifer Lopez with her child Emme, Nicole Scherzinger, Gayle King and more.
